This lake is an ancient geological marvel and is highly alkaline, an ideal environment for the hundreds of flamencos that call it home. The rising dust when they open their wings has given them their name in the Maasai language: Nakuru, meaning dusty.
“‘Lake Naivasha was exceptional. Stunning scenery with the animals outside the rooms. Hippos came out in the night which stopped us walking back to the rooms alone. The security guard kindly escorted us back to the room and spotted out the hippos to us. It was an exciting experience. The food there was very nice too.’
“'All hotels had excellent staff and food was brilliant. James the driver on safari, did a very good job’
