One of the most impressive places in Costa Rica. In fact, National Geographic has called it the jewel in the crown of cloud forest reserves, owing to its impressive nature and biodiversity. What's more, the newspaper La Nación has named it one of the Seven Wonders of Costa Rica. The area houses the Monteverde Forest Reserve, a private nature reserve where you can visit and even stay overnight. Nevertheless, the surroundings are frequented by tourists, as this is the departure point for the main hiking trails in the area. Another of the biggest private nature reserves is the Children's Eternal Rain Forest, home to over 400 birds from all over the world, butterflies and bats.
