The name is taken from the volcano which is found within the Rincón de la Vieja National Park, Situated in Guanacaste. You can spot a great many local birds here such as Violetears, Aracarai and the Horned Guan. There are also mammals such as sloths, anteaters, spider monkeys and capuchins. This is one of the least visited national parks in Costa Rica, making it also one of the most peaceful. The volcano is located 1,916 metres above sea level. Geysers and thermal springs are a characteristic of this region.
