Known as being the most southern city in the world, Ushuaia is the capital of the Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands province It is the only one found on the western side of the Andes and is marked by a sign announcing the: The End of the World. Its main attraction are the lakes that surround it, such as the Fagnanno, and the glaciers such as Martial and Vinciguerra. The city centre is home to various museums, such as the End of the World Museum, where you can learn the history of the region. There are also cultural houses such as the Enriqueta Gastelumendi arts centre, where tango shows are organised, or the Casa Beban, which serves as an exhibition centre. Ushuaia is a good spot to buy local craft ware and also the departure point for many excursions to Tierra de Fuego and Antarctica. The beauty of the surroundings has served as the setting for many films such as The Journey, La Fuga and The Revenant, the latter starring Leonardo DiCaprio.
“The organisation which included tours, transfers and internal flights was excellent. Local tour companies were spot on with communication and we had friendly English speaking tour guides throughout. We knew the trip would be 'full-on' to fit in everything scheduled but it was just fantastic and worth the effort.”
“‘Stunning locations and great to explore so much in such a short space of time.’
“‘The hotel in Rio was excellent and in an amazing position. The airport pickups were all waiting for us on arrival and the pickups and guides for the tours were all punctual, friendly and informative.’
