Located in the commune of San Pedro de Atacama, this reserve was created in 1990 by the Ministry of Agriculture. It’s large area, 740 square meters, is divided into 7 sectors in which you can navigate in relation to its fauna. Pumas inhabit meadows and pampas, vicuñas, culpeo foxes, chululos and vizcachas live in the rocky outlets and plains and flamingos, Andean gulls, plovers, ducks, turtle doves, harriers and geese can also be found in this vast reserve. In relation to its flora there is a great abundance of different vegetation. The nature of this reserve is amazing for its shapes and colors especially at sunset when the whitish salt flats begin to change their tone and turns pinkish.
