The Japanese capital is unimaginable. From parks that resemble forests, like Yoyoji and the Meiji sanctuary, to the skyscrapers of Roppongi Hills, as seen in the scenes of the film Lost in Translation. The imperial palace and the medieval bridge are some of the most photographed sites, along with the famous neon-clad Shibuya junction, the busiest in the world. Tokyo also boasts a tower modelled on the Eiffel Tower, but even taller.
“‘We enjoyed the tour and the mix of some organised tours and some free time to use as you wish.’”
“Before we left for Japan I was a little concerned that our holiday would probably be centred around cities but came to realise that the cities were excellent centres from which to plan a variety of day trips.
“‘The people are so different from us and are so humble. The excursions were worthwhile with the Kyoto and Nara trips being the best. We managed to use the rail pass to go to Hiroshima which was the highlight. So much to see close to the station so a fantastic day- the bullet train made the trip easy and gave us an extra day’
“'The transfer to the hotel was good - although it said shared transfer, we had the smart large cab to ourselves. The hotels were very good - all situated near to restaurants, shops, tourist attractions and transport, and all the staff were friendly and efficient and could speak English'”
