Arrive in Dubai and transfer to the hotel. Rest of the day is free to discover this modern Emirati metropolis at your leisure. We recommend visiting the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world and a symbol of the city of 828 meters and 160 floors. Since its inauguration in 2010, it offers the best views of the desert and the city. It is located in the largest shopping centre in the world, the Dubai Mall where 1200 stores of all kinds are located. Overnight stay in Dubai.
Breakfast at the hotel. We recommend a walk through Deira, the traditional district and the old centre of Dubai, famous for its commercial importance. At dusk, take an exciting 4x4 excursion to the desert and enjoy a delicious barbeque dinner under the stars with traditional entertainment including Belly Dancing,* waterpipes and camel rides. Return to the hotel and overnight in Dubai.
* Please note: Belly Dancing does not take place during Ramadan.
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend the day at your leisure, exploring the many attractions, shopping malls or perhaps the old town. We recommend an optional tour of the city.* Overnight stay in Dubai.
* Optional Dubai City Tour: Today, embark on a city tour of Dubai which is famed for its mix of old and new. Pass by the magnificent views of Dubai Creek, with futuristic architecture, before visiting the 225-year-old Al Fahidi Fort. Board a traditional boat to cross the creek and visit the bustling Gold Souk and the enchanting Spice Market. End up at the Burj Al Arab, the famous sail-shaped hotel which is said to be the most luxurious hotel in the world. Return to your hotel and rest of the day and night free to experience all Dubai has to offer. Price per person: £35
Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a flight to Muscat, in Oman. Arrive and transfer to the hotel, making a stop en route at the impressive Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque. After checking in to the hotel and taking some time to relax, set off on a tour of the city. Visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which showcases Omani heritage with a vast collection of antiques and history of both the urban and rural communities of Oman. Explore Old Muscat, surrounded by steep mountains and flanked by the twin 16th century Jalali and Mirani forts, Stop at Muttrah, the main port area and explore the ancient Souk, the perfect place to pick up an authentic souvenir. Overnight stay in Muscat.
Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, head to the coastal town of Barka to visit a traditional fish market which is always full of character in the morning, located beside the fort of Barka. Afterwards, proceed to Nakhal, famous for its ancient fort and hot springs. Continue to Rostaq, the former capital of Oman where Al Hazm fort, built in the 18th century, is an important highlight. Enjoy a photo stop before heading back towards Muscat. Back in the city, visit the Amouage Perfume Factory. It was built in 1983, as part of an initiative by His Highness Sayyid Hamad bin Hamoud al bu Said to bring back the Arabian art of perfumery to Oman. Overnight stay in Muscat.
Breakfast at the hotel. Proceed to Nizwa said to be the birthplace of Islam in the Sultanate of Oman. Nizwa boasts of the famous Round Tower Fort and a famous cattle auction Souk. Visit Jabrin, the finest of Oman’s castles built in the late 17th century. It has fascinating ceiling murals which showcase the vibrant stories of days gone by. Afterwards, continue through graded tracks, stopping at Wadi Ghul, a fascinating village surrounded by lofty mountain ranges. Embark on a panoramic mountain drive before finally arriving at Jabal Shams, the Mountain of the Sun and second highest peak in the Arab Gulf region, rising to over 2000 metres. Admire the picturesquesetting and incredible views of the rugged landscape. Check-in to the hotel. Overnight stay in Jabal Shams.
After breakfast, set off to the mythical Wahiba Sands, one of the most fascinating and mysterious regions of Oman. The area is home to mighty sand dunes which host an array of exotic flora and fauna. Take a Camel Ride or Dune Drive for an authentic experience of life in the desert. Enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner under the starry skies and an overnight stay in the camp.
Awake to a beautiful sunrise experience as you watch the first rays of light ignite the desert sands. Breakfast at the camp before heading off towards Sur, renowned for its traditional shipyards where Omani boats, or Dhows, are constructed. Arrive and spend some time at your leisure exploring the sights if time allows. Overnight stay in Sur.
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to Wadi Shab, a popular oasis of natural pools and waterfalls. Admire the natural beauty before continuing to the white sand beaches of Fins where you can spend some time swimming in the turquoise waters. This area of coastline is renowned for its exceptional natural beauty. Continue to Muscat, arriving by late evening. Check-in and overnight stay in Muscat.
Breakfast at the hotel. Spend some time at your leisure. At the indicated time, transfer to the airport for a flight back to the UK. Arrive in the UK and end your trip.
