Russia
Russia - Map

A trip to Russia is neither a trip to Europe nor a trip to Asia. Russia is the place where two continents come together in a cultural fusion, forming this country of tremendous proportions. Russia was one of the great empires of the world and an international superpower. It remains one of the biggest players on the world stage today. The size of Russia is such that it covers Christian Orthodox communities, Muslims, Buddhists, an impressive range of philosophers, novelists and poets, as well as radically diverse political visions such as Tsars and revolutionaries. The Tsars liking for art collections bequeathed the city with a cultural heritage which includes the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow – with Egyptian artefacts, Priam's Treasure and the works of Rembrandt within its walls – or The Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, home to as many works of art from the Byzantine era as contemporary European paintings, not to be missed on a trip to Russia. Of the many Russian cities, Moscow and Saint Petersburg are the favourites of package tours to Russia. The capital, for its mix of cultures and the latter, for its Parisian airs. Finally, out on the plains, at the end of the Trans-Siberian Railway, a taste of adventure awaits you in Irkutsk.
