The volcanic craters, conveniently cooled and shaped by the wind, have made Cappadocia one of the most unique landscapes in the world, the Hoodoos. The spires of rock protruding from the earth are called Hoodoos, and their unique shape allowed for underground excavation to transform them into homes and stables, as in the town of Goreme.
