This combined railway and motorway bridge, which links the two nations of Denmark and Sweden is a widely admired architectural feat. Running 8 kilometres across, from Malmo to Copenhagen, the bridge drops into a tunnel on a man-made island near to the Danish end, taking travellers underneath the remainder of the Oresund Strait. The bridge opened in the year 2000, and by train it takes only 35 minutes from one end to the other, giving commuters the opportunity to travel to a different country for work, as many do. The sheer novelty of traversing countries so effortlessly is a good enough reason to put the Oresund Bridge on your ‘must-do’ list when visiting Sweden.
