Arrive at your UK departure airport ready to board your flight to Yangon. Night on board.
Arrive in Yangon, transfer to the hotel and, if time permits, enjoy some free time to explore. Yangon is the largest city in Myanmar and the buildings are a fascinating mix of colonial architecture, modern high-rises and beautiful Buddhist shrines. Overnight stay in Yangon.
Breakfast at the hotel. Set off towards Bagan. Be enchanted by the tiered roofs that crown the buildings of the Parliament complex and admire the golden Uppatasanti Pagoda. Continue to Bagan, an ancient city, on the banks of the Ayeyarwady River. Arrive, transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Bagan.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, tour the sights of other-worldly Bagan. Visit the colourful local market, Shwezigon Pagoda the glory of Bagan, Htilominlo Temple and Nathtaukkyaung Monastery, which is made of traditional teak wood. Also discover Ananda Temple, the masterpiece of Bagan, the Gubyaukgyi Temple with the best mural paintings and Dhamayangyi Temple, the biggest temple in Bagan. Finally, enjoy the sunset at Sunset Hill. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Bagan.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, drive to Mount Popa - an extinct volcano which is known as “Home of the Spirits” where you can observe the life of the rural area. Climb up 777 steps to reach the top of Mount Popa to the cliff temple and enjoy the landscapes, the panoramic view of the extinct volcano and the vast plain of Bagan. Afterwards, continue to Mandalay, the former royal capital, full of majestic palaces and temples. Transfer to the hotel and overnight stay in Mandalay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, take a boat excursion to Mingun, along the Ayeyarwaddy river. During the cruise, enjoy the fascinating landscapes of the river as well as the daily life of the people living along the Ayeyarwaddy. Visit Mingun Pagoda, with a huge ringing bell of 90 tons. Return to Mandalay and visit the traditional handicraft workshops, the Kuthodaw Pagoda and the Golden Palace Monastery. Finally, enjoy the sunset on top of Mandalay Hill where we can admire the beauty of Mandalay City and the Shan Plateau. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay in Mandalay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Set off to the Inle Lake region, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Enjoy the landscapes along the way before arriving at the township of Nyaung Shwe. Rest of the day is at your leisure. Overnight in Nyaung Shwe.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a fascinating boat excursion on enormous Inle Lake. Visit the floating morning market, to see the villagers who live on the lake doing their shopping. Continue to In Dein village and after a walk around the village, passing a local school, take the covered stairway to the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area where ancient stupas are partly covered by vegetation. Enjoy fantastic views across the lake. Later visit Phaungdaw Oo Pagoda and a Cheroot Factory in Nampan village, another floating village upon Inle Lake. Return to the hotel and overnight stay in Nyaung Shwe.
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Heho airport for a flight back to Yangon. Take a city tour of Yangon and visit the colonial area for an insight into the history of this sprawling metropolis and stroll down Pansodan Street. Walk up to the Pansodan Bridge and explore the city centre. Finally, visit the awe-inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda, known as the Golden Pagoda, one of the wonders of the world. Overnight stay in Yangon.
Breakfast at the hotel. At the indicated time transfer to the airport for a flight back to the UK. Arrive in the UK and end your trip.
